Last Minute Quick Trip to Vegas – Who Needs a Hotel?
The great airfares I’m seeing are giving me a hankerin’ for a cheap Las Vegas quickie vacation. My next scheduled trip to Las Vegas is still months away, but I can fly to Vegas for around $200 roundtrip and I’m seriously thinking of taking off for a quick no-hotel vacation. I would like to stay for 2 nights and 1 day and I just need to figure out where I can crash for a few hours.
Here’s the rough plan so far…
- Sleep all day Thursday at home
- Fly to Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon
- Night 1: Party and gamble all night
- Day 2: Do some research and take some Las Vegas photos for this site / party and gamble (heavy doses of caffeine)
- Crash somewhere for a couple hours (airport, park bench, swimming pool, movie theater, cheap hotel)
- Night 2: Party and gamble all night
- Day 2: Fly home in the morning

We used to do similar things on weekends when I was in college, but we always had a friends place to sleep it off for a few hours…. or a car…. something. I haven’t tried it in a busy city like Las Vegas where I won’t have a home base.
I need help with this! Who has done something like this before? How did you do it and where did you sleep? Was it a good time or a bummer? Is it worth the hassle or should I just get a hotel? Please leave a comment and tell me how it’s done. I know, I know – I’m supposed to give advice, and I will ….when I get back.

Now I just need to call some friends and talk somebody into going with me. Shouldn’t be too hard. Anybody up for a quickie Vegas trip?
See you in Las Vegas!
(I’ll be the one sleeping by the pool)
great idea. my boyfriend and his buddies would love something like this. i’m sending him a link right now.
oh, and you misspelled gamble
bonnie h. – fixed “gable” – thanks
FlavaX – Thanks for the encouragement. I bet a trip like this really would seem longer…. hopefully in a good way..(?)
I did this a couple years ago by myself. It was sweet. Two nights and one day. It seemed a lot longer. I got a locker at the Greyhound station downtown and took some short naps anyplace I could find. The trip cost me about $300 and I won $800. You should do it.
Well, you may have figured it out but I have not had a chance to take the quickie no-hotel mini-vacation to Las Vegas. I have just been too busy lately with work and other BS (that’s also why I have not been posting my reviews lately). I know the airfare deals are there, I just need to break away for 2 days. Please post more comments if you have done this or if you have any ideas.
